Seat broke! 86 Carrerra

Hello all! A wrench was test driving my 86 carrera yesterday, (very nicelly as a matter a fact, I must not know how to drive P cars) and when accellerating out of a turn, the passenger seat back, collapsed and went all the way back like it was reclined, tried using the electric adjustment and nothing happens, pulled up with my hand, while pressing the button, and it caught and stayed there, but if you press the button to recline, you reach a point where the gears must have stripped and it falls all the way back to fullu reclined. I would love to think that this happend because of my 3.2's mind numbing power, of a PO having fun in the passenger seat, but my car is just old and I need to fix it! Anyone out there experience this before, and clue's as to how to fix this w/o buying a new or used seat? My seat is perfect, the black leather is like new... TIA
