Moving to New Jersey.....

Any recommendation on shops in the Trenton Area.

I'm gonna miss driving the 911 all year round.

brother to brothers in medford has a good reputation. they did a couple of PPIs for me which eliminated some bad cars that i otherwise would have bought based upon my complete inexperience then (as opposed to my significant inexperience now ;-)

Its about half an hour out of trenton.

Auto technic in pennington is pretty good. Ask for Tom. If you are going to join a local pca, look for schattenbaum. They are burlington counties area but most people from the surrounding areas join this one, plus they have a bunch of track days each year.

I live in Lawrenceville, which is close to Trenton, and I still drive up to northern NJ for any "performance" repairs or modifications. Autotechnik isn't bad for routine maintenance, but they don't have the upgrade/track knowledge that some of the other independent shops have. Bodymotion is a little under an hour away towards the beach (never a bad thing), and is another alternative.

Sorry to hear you're headed out to the Armpit of the US. Since you're coming from Cali, you might find it slightly cheaper to live out here, but don't count on it.

The armpit!? There are some great driving roads in Northern Jersey. I suppose you meant Trenton in general. I go back every so often and have found those roads again. Have fun.

NJ definitely has its armpit regions, but it also has it's share of beauty and serenity. Take a drive up 32 along the Delaware, it's filled with twists, elevation changes, and enchanting landscapes.

I love it when folks disparage NJ. Keep them out and keep NJ a well-kept secret. I'm from Hunterdon County and went to school in Lawrenceville. There are some awesome roads there. Cops are tough though. Go down toward LBI and Rt. 72 can be amazing. That road is so straight and long, I've come to a complete stop and run my Carrera up to ridiculous speeds with no one in sight for miles.

Jersey has gotten ridiculous with the revenue generation. We now have things called "safe corridors" which means absolutely nothing except that they put up a sign that allows them to double all the traffic fines.
Rob, I think you are talking about route 32 (river road) in PA? That is one of my favorites, plus only the PA state troopers have radar so as long and you pay attention and don't be crazy, a little speeding can be done....

Yes, Paul, I'm talking about River Rd on the PA side. There are also a couple of vineyards up that road if you prefer to imbibe during the trip

MuffinMan- I also live in Lawrenceville...If you see a guy in a Guards Red 993, wave hi. I live off Cold Soil Road, and drive up and down Rte. 206 all the time...

I have had good experiences with AutoTechnik...always ask for Tom Keenan...and very fair experiences with Princeton Porsche.

72 is scary with all the state troopers and local cops that need to make money for their townships in the summer. there are some great roads in south jersey of you're out for a ride someday too. auto insurance rates are a joke in NJ. my premiums dropped 15 % or more when i moved to pa.

Does 611 run into 32? I love to go 78W to Easton and down along the Delaware to New Hope....great afternoon ride. Then nice to see all the toys that end up down there. This weekend should be crowded.

Central Jersey in that area is very nice - I used to live in Branchburg on the Somerset/Hunderton Co line. To expensive for me at the time.

Just watch out for the staties. And the plethora of local yokel law enfocement. It's all about revenue generation, and there are lots of people who want to give you a ticket.

I had to travel to Lakehurst, NJ on business about 1.5 months ago. Flew into Newark. Severe culture shock for this guy from Alabama. I got lost coming out of the Newark airport and got into a bad neighborhood and didn't know how to get out and was not really inclined to stop and ask some of the locals for assistance. I'm sure a couple of guys with obvious Southern accents lost in the middle of Newark would gone over really well.

Then, the next day, I got yelled at by a gas station attendant for trying to pump my own gas.

Whole different world....

The Lakehurst area was really nice, though....

Unfortunately, may travelers get lost in Newark and that's the image they retain and bring back home. There are some nice areas there as well though. The Turnpike is another "beautiful" ride.

Did the gas station attendant speak english? I'm surprised. BTW, I think NJ is the only state where Self-Service is illegal. I was once yelled at because, when in another state, I sat in my car and beeped at an attendant waiting for him to fill my car up.
