Another smog story
Took the silver pig in for a smog check today.
This was my first test with the smog check two in place (dyno involved), and the paper stated "Test Only" too. The first place I called that was a test only refused my car. He said he did no work on those types of cars not even testing. I started to get a little worried. The next place could care less. So before going in I did a nice drive out to the coast taking in the considerations from previous posts and advice I think posted from schrup. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1095112831.jpg The only changes that I was worried about was the Steve W. chip, which was still in, I did reconnect the brown wire though.. Other than that stock air box and Dansk muffler. Original Cat and an old O2 sensor. Then they did the tag team on the poor beast. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1095112951.jpg The Results were that it passed easily with the following. CO .14 @1507rpm. Max is .76 and .09 @2438rpm max is .65 HC 43 @1507rpm Max 121 and 15@2438rpm max 96 NO 182 1507rpm Max 807 and 283 @2438rpm Max 746 I thought the numbers were not too bad for a 100,000 mile engine. I questioned why a smog only since had never failed a smog prior and I guess my car fits the profile of a high emitter. Afterwards another guy with a 911 sc shows up. He got the test only too.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1095113637.jpg |
Congratultions.
Sounds like you found a good shop. I travel about 20 miles to go to the same guy for the last 6 years. He does Porsches and knows what to do. |
Where is a good place in the East Bay Area (Ca.) to get a porsche smogged?

I didn't know a shop could refuse to test a car like that...

Last time I got my 911 inspected 3 shops refused to test me and it was a safety only inspection (This is in NC)
