Hey, does anyone know how those motors work? I'd love to see a cross section or cutaway. I saw a pic of an F1 motor recently and it looked like the fuel injectors spray directly downward from the top of the throttle bodies. Slick. It remined me of a pick of a Jerry Woods 911 setup in BA's book. I remember seeing that pick and thinking, "Doesn't the butterfly valve get covered in gasoline?" I can only imagine all of the cool gofast porn to be found inside one of those motors.

As might be expected, these engines are extremely complicated. I have a block and have studied it and still haven't figured out what some of the stuff is!

Oh please, as if we would sit idly by and let the Germans or anyone else take over our motoring heritage...

I hope that was dripping with sarcasm. I think you're too late, everybody else including the Germans have already taken over. Hell, Jaguars are Fords now, I'm not a Brit and that makes even me sad.

BMW --> Mini

Hmm, Ford --> Jaguar

Volkswagon --> Bentley

I'm sure there's more that I don't know about.

Does Patrick Motor Sports make a flywheel adapter for that or will it bolt directly to my 915?

Funny you mentioned it, the hot rumor is that Jaguar as a brand in F1 is out, Ford is in. To be called "Ford Grand Prix" next year, no more Jaguars to make fun of. With all the unlimited funds they could draw on, you'd think they could make a competitive team.
But, money does not alwyas equal wins in racing...

The word I heard today is that Ford is not in either. Ford has put the Jaguar team up for sale and maybe even Cosworth.

No Jaguar and no Ford team in F1 for 2005.

Well, from the pictures I have seen, it does,nt seem to complicated to me. The piston goes up on the left bank. booooom, then it goes down. At the same time, the piston on the right bank goes up, and boooom, and then it goes down. The only difference seems to be that Porsche seems to do it so much better than most of the rest. I just wish they would get into F1

That was fast. The issue of Autoweek that came in the mail yesterday was where the info on Ford running the Jag team as Ford came from. Well, that's where I read it anyway.

Formula1.com has the story on Ford selling the team.

Now since we are dreaming about a Porsche F1 team, any thoughts on who they'd recruit as drivers ????
