				1st "Panorama"-It's tiny!

Am I the only one totally dissapointed by the Panorama? PCA should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such a low quality rag. BMWCCA's "Roundel" far outshines the "Panorama" and for lower mebership rates.

Ironically read my first issue of BMW's mag today. Yes it is better than Panorama. But then IMO Porsche makes a real sports car and BMW doesn't so there's the trade off. Sports car versus magazine. Which would you rather have.

Are you NEW to Pano or simply commenting on a format change?

I used to read it all the time, and found it great, especially the "European Report" column, and the editorial on current racing politics. It's often filled with great historic and tech articles, as well helps pull the entire Porsche community together, on a national and cross-model level. (But if that's the way you feel, I won't argue with you.) OK, I'm done with the sales-pitch. |

This was my first issue ever. The content seems decent, but the mag itself really blows. It's not like I'll not renew my PCA membership, but I do feel a bit cheated. Agreed-the better car is worth suffering the Panorama-BUT, why should it be like that?

there is a new format i am guessing? it was, as of my last issue the best put together mag out there. i am not commenting of content, just the cover, binding, and how it was put together. they are are (were) small enought to store well after reading, and used good cover and page paper. i wish my porn was that well put together

I don't think either Pano or Roundel are great magazines. Roundel is a lot of self-indulgent stuff for the newer buyers and for Yale, Satch and the crew (though I do like Rob Siegel's "Hack Mechanic" columns -- and judging by one of said columns, Rob is now a Pelican -- Hi Rob!). Having said all that, Roundel is better produced and has articles of interest to me more often than Pano. Pano is more like a glossy club newsletter than a magazine, and I just bark with laughter when I read what people believe their stuff is worth in "The Mart." I keep a few old Panos around just to have the phone numbers and contact information of a few of the advertisers at hand. If I want a periodical fix (snort) of Porsche stuff, I hit Excellence or 911 & Porsche World. More the former than the latter. As for the PCA, if you're treating yourself and your car to upgrades, over the course of a year, the PCA membership discounts you get (if you carefully select your merchants) will pay for your membership.
