voltmeter install
A few months ago I was trying to chase down an electrical problem and wound up buying a voltmeter from summit The problem was finding a subtle but visible place to install it. Here is what I finally came up with last week.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Made the box out of some cheap metal and painted it wurths black. The gauge is probably close to 30 bucks and its fairly well hidden when the ignition is switched off. |

I did something very similar with an aluminum wall stud cut down to fit just below my A/C controls. Because my leather seats are going to be refinished, I cut a small piece from the rear of the seatback and glued this down to the metal. I have a voltmeter and A/F guage and most non-Porsche people think it's factory. It's reversible if the need ever arises.

The wall stud is a great idea. If I had thought of that I wouldn't have made the box out of stock. In the end I may cover it with a piece of headliner materal. You can get all types of "grain" and its pretty durable. Do you have a pic?

Here's the best picture I have at the moment. I installed "cheap" gauges bought at a local parts chain, as this project was done on a whim. Someday I'll get around to ordering the VDO's I wanted. By the way, ignore the black half-leather seats -- they are temporarily installed until the originals are finished.

I did a similar thing, but removed the ashtray and mounted mine there.

If I install any other gauges I'll use the ash tray also. With 911's its difficult to put a gauge in and make it look like it came with the car originally. With modified turbos and race cars it is necessary to put gauges everywhere but I just needed a voltmeter since the car only came with an idiot light.
I would like to install a very small temp indicator for outside temp but have had no luck finding something digital and very small. Has anyone seen a setup that would look professional. Chuck |

Raynald, checked out your site, gorgeous car!. I like the fabric around the gauge panel and how it matches the interior. Excellent.
