Question Best way to ship fenders and hood?

I need to ship fenders and a hood for a 911 from Mass to Pittsburgh. What is the best means that others have tried?. The condition is not too important since they will be repainted. Just don't want them arriving bent in half.

thanks.

I've received fenders via Fedex and they arrived in great condition.
The hood will be tougher because of it's size. Greyhound may be able to do it but you'd have to package carefully.

The one time I shipped a hood I made a crate. Start by getting a few lenghts of 1x4s. Pine works fine. Cut them the length of the front width. and rear width to the corners. Then screw on sides. Stand up the hood on its sides and screw blocks on the top and bottom of the side edge to hold it in the box. Do this all the way around. Add some plywood corner braces and a few X braces across the width. Staple some cardboard on all of this and paint do not stack and fragile on it. Greyhound took mine for about $60.

Fenders can go in a large box. YOu may have to ship each one individually since a pair may exceed the 60# weight limit for Greyhound.

I like to tape the fenders to the side of the box so they can not slide around.

The thing with fenders is the pointy end up near the windshield bends very easily if it happens to take a hit. It's a good idea to tape something around there to absorb the shock in case the box gets dropped on that end.

Greyhound. You should be able to ship each one for less than $50.

Get a 50yrd roll of bubble wrap and 2 roles of packing tape from your local packaging and shipping store. Wrap and ship each fender separately. Use the bubblewrap generously and put a few extra wraps around the area that bolts to the cowl section of the car. Insure each one for the $300 max and pray.

parts shipping

You could ship all three of them for around $50 through forwardair if the person sending lives near Boston.
