bummer, were you going to use the oval at Irwindale? Couple of us did that last summer.
Have you tried the San Diego AX or DE events at the Q? We had a fun DE track last Sunday and an AX on Saturday too. You could get your track fix with a bunch of us at Big Willow the following weekend with TCRA. |

Bummer, that means I'll have to do chores on sunday instead.
I can't imagine why they would have to cancel a zone event unless there was a problem with the venue. Maybe them Nascar circle guys pulled rank on us. |

Apparently there is new management in place at
Irwindale and they have informed us the rental fee for the track has gone up, way up!! We were paying $1,000 + $360 for the emergency response unit (EMT). They are now demanding $2,450 + $50/hr. for the EMT. The increase is approx. $1,450 = approx. 145%. Their excuse is the increased cost of insurance. We need to find a new place to Autocross in Orange County. If anyone has anyideas let me know Thanks Christian

That totally blows. We had trouble finding a venue when we found Irwindale, looks like we are back in the same boat.
I was hoping that Anaheim stadium would let us play (5 minutes from the house) but apparently they don't want any part of it. |

Couple of my friends run this Auto-x club. Very well organized from what I can tell. Venue changes each event. |

Terry- Thanks for the info.
Sam- I think Anaheim stadium would be a problem because of the whole Disney thing.

Quote:
For the same drive out to San Bernadino you can go to "The Q" and drive an awesome AX on an extremely challenging course. You don't get the banked turn as at Irwindale, but you don't have the wall either... I live in Hunt Bch. and have been making the drive to the Q for well over a year for their AX/DE events and love it. I think for OCR-PCA members, the reality just may be that to AX you might have to consider doing it outside of O.C. just my .02

I used to do the Q, but last time I was there so were 120 other drivers.
Long day to get 14 laps. Maybe that has changed? Other than the number of other cars and the long drive home I had a blast. Best part of the OC at irwindale was the amount of lap time we get. Before we got our wrists slapped for doing continuous laps i could get over 45 minutes of actual driving time for $60! Hard to beat. |

Thats why we need to find a place in OC. We are going to look on Sat. after Krispy Kream.

Isn't there some sort of test track down near Irvine they use for evaluating cars or tires or whatever?
I think I remember reading about it, that would be perfect. |

What about El Toro? That place is wide open and the car manufacturer's use it occasionally for "invited" test drives. Plus I spent close to a month out there learning to operate a fire engine. There is alot of activity taking place out there and do to it's isolation, not many people are aware.
