GHL Makes Good
About a year and a half ago I bought a GHL cat. bypass and muffler from a fellow board member. Several weeks back the tip of the muffler exited my car while crusing down I-5 on my way to JWW for a tune up before this years Round-Up.
Turns out the welds had failed. See pic's: ![]() and... ![]() Well, needless to say I was a little disappointed. Luckily, since my car is a daily driver, I had not gotten rid of my stock muffler. I sent the busted muffler back to GHL and within a few days received a call from the owner of the company. He wanted to know if I had bought the muffler directly from GHL as this particular muffler was produced before their patents were awarded. I told him I didn't remember figuring that I wouldn't get anything if I wasn't the original purchaser (yes, that was dishonest....but I still payed a good amount of money for the product so I felt like I needed some sort of restitution...and I yes, I fessed up in the end). Owner says he'll take it down to the production guys in the morning for an evaluation. If a new tip can't be welded on he'll just send me a new muffler. The results: ![]() New tip, and new tip mounting clamp...polished everything. I am a happy camper and cannot wait to get this item back on my car! Kudos to GHL and their stellar customer service!!! ![]()

That would never happen with B&B. They would n't even *SELL* me an oil accumulator tank to replace a damaged one on my 930. They wanted me to prove that I bought it from them in the first place. It wasn't like I was asking for a FREE one. Well, GHL came to the rescue, They sold me one and I didn't even own one of there exhausts. Next time I buy an exhaust, it will definatley be a GHL.

On the plus side of this little transaction is the fact that it looks as though they've improved (lengthened) the tip a bit (as well as the clamp-up method).
The previous tip was almost flush with the bumper and with the cat pipe passing all that heat *through* the exhaust system it tended to discolor the paint on the bumper a bit. Nothing that wouldn't wipe or polish off but it was a little annoying. I'll install the new/old muffer tomorrow, wash the car, go for an extended drive and report back whether or not it's an improvement! Can't wait... ![]()

I decided on a GHL exhaust basically because of all the positive feedback regarding customer service. Sure enough, there was a part missing when they sent my exhaust out. Since I knew when the exhaust was going to arrive because of the UPS tracking number, I had the car in my garage, up in the air, with the exhaust system removed, waiting for the UPS truck. When I discovered a very necessary part missing, I called GHL and they overnighted the part. I checked the UPS website and discovered what that part cost to send overnight from Arizona to Chicago....it wasn't cheap. Very good guys.

It is for this reason that we sell the GHL mufflers, and promote them heavily on the site. In my experience, these aftermarket exhaust manufacturers *all* have quality problems, as these mufflers are all hand-made. GHL stands behind their product, lock, stop, and barrel (what does that mean anyway?)
Kudos again to GHL! -Wayne

Lock, stock, and barrel. These are the primary components of a rifle (flintlock really). It means "the whole thing".

It's nice to hear good news about a vendor for change. It seems like everyone I deal with lately, has difficultly honoring agreements. It was not like this a few years ago...
Also, B&B does suck in customer service.

If GHL could only fix the fitment problems of their complete header system (w/ muffler) for 930s...
Also, when I sent my muffler back for warranty work (it had cracked), it took over a month to get it back. Its no fun spending $60+ to ship that thing across the country.

GHL should team up with Jet-Hot coatings and sell complete mandrel-bent systems.
The air cooled cars generate a lot of heat in the engine compartment, especially turbos, and a lot of pulled head studs and oil leaks could probably be avoided with decent heat control. |

Just by looking at those thin-wire too-cold welds they should have known they would break. Oops.

Plus, the new welds are much larger than the originals.
