my ride with polished Fuchs

Hello to all,a few weeks ago I posted pics of the rear wheels I had polished at home, well I have completed all 4 and here are a few pics of my baby, what do you think? She is a 1983 911SC with paint color quartz grey and freshly home polished Fuchs,7x16 in front with 205/55-16 and 8x16 in rear with 245/45-16 Yokohama AVS ES100,I only have 2 miles on the tires so no feedback yet other than they look great!!

They look great!

I polished and repaited mine two years ago and just today finished the center covers. How I let myself get away with that I will never know. I plan to paint the crests next.

I run Yokos too - and mine were mounted wrong too. The yellow triangle indicates the lightest point of the tire circumference. It is supposed to be mounted at the valve stem which typically is the heaviest point on the rim. This reduces the total balance weight needed.

I noted that there was weight placed to compensate for this. It does seem to matter and help.

This is the PDF that describes the YOKO system.

notmytarga thanks for the tip,I guess the tire place that mounted my tires was not aware of this.Poorsha I hear what you are saying, after finishing the 2nd wheel I thought to myself why am I doing this? After finishing the last wheel I said to many people around me that my wheel refinishing career is over!! It is a lot of work but it feels good to complete the job and knowing you did it yourself, now it's just a matter of upkeep.

Great looking car! I'm sending my wheels to Al Reed this winter for the same look. Beautiful car!

Wheels look great, but the ride is too high. Are you expecting a flood? Or is your 911 a nerd? Just kidding!

Love that color BTW.

I just completed 2 ten hr days after the shop gouged my bare wheels. Now the reflection is as sharp as a bathroom mirror.

220, 400, coarse rouge, fine rouge, Mothers with die grinder buff pad, wax..

fwiw, other metal polishes aren't as gritty as Mothers for machine buff. Mothers sucks for manual buff imo.

I think it looks great. Same wheels and tires here. I made the change last year.
