So--to the causes--hard to say, but my mechanic thinks that while I was commuting across the Bay Bridge (at a whopping 5mph) with the engine getting really warm (creeping up to the second line) it started detonating--and that is probably what caused the break.

Maybe--we'll keep looking for causes. I'm not yet prepared to blame Bosch.
