Noticed the SC was running a slight bit ragged and my old smeller detected a fuel smell every once in a while. After some detective work found the gasket to the fuel cap went to lunch. I wondered if the fuel tank had a slight positive pressure or a slight negative pressure. If negative why did I smell fuel? Why? I would think there would need to be a slight positive pressure to cause fuel vapors to find their way to the charcoal filter.

your fuel tank is vented. Your fuel pump intake sees head psi at 2.31ft = 1psi.
