Rear end 'shimmy'
I'm getting a 'shimmy'/vibration through the seat of my pants as I accelerate hard in 3rd and 4th. Most noticeable accelerating full throttle from 120kph in 4th gear and it fades with speed. I'm thinking possibly a driveshaft or CV joint or is there anything alse I should check first?
Thanks

The only other thing I could think of was worn suspension bushings-i.e the tires twist outwards under load and are no longer parallel.
Not sure that that would happen only in those conditions. |

john- I'm pretty sure it's there all the time but when you accelerate hard in 1st and 2nd it all over to quick to notice it
![]() My passenger could feel it too. It's like a pulsing that gets faster with roadspeed but only under hard load.

paulporsche I think I can eliminate wheel and tyre issues because the fault was noticable before I swapped to the 16s that are on there now.
I will check the balance again though as they are toyo r888 trackday tyres. Maybe they go out of balance easy or maybe I steam cleaned a weight off earlier when I washed it. hmmmm

I would be concerned about the CV joints/half shafts.

Yeah I'm pretty sure of it too just wanted confirmation. Is it more cost effective to service the shaft or to buy a replacement?
