Vinyl v. Leather
It's time to replace the driver and passenger seat covers on the 911. Original is leather tops with vinyl sides and backs. Replacement cost estimates are $1400-$1800 for the leather/vinyl and $850-$1300 for all vinyl.
Is it really worth the extra bucks for the leather tops? I have no experience with the vinyl. Thanks--

I recovered mine with the vinyl from World Upholsery. It was pretty easy to do, just took time. The vinyl is easy to clean and
I hope it lasts at least as long in the sun as the vinyl did. It is comfortable, as well. Softer than the old leather, which had been re dyed.

Buy them, sell them

The prices you've been quoted for retrimming seem astronomical!
![]() I paid a lot less than that. Infact, I paid a third of that for these to be completely re-trimmed: ![]() ![]() I went for leather with vinyl sides/backs. Very comfortable!

Leather breathes. It feels better and is worth more to others. Vinyl is plastic -- it is the most polluting plastic made, and is one of the cheapest.
OTOH, Leather involves the killing of animals, vinyl only makes them sick from the fumes and ground wter pollution. Go leather. Use the second argument if you run into any animal rightists. |
