Now, that is a very nice car, indeed. And at 1153 kilos, mmmm...I want to lap Spa a few times, just plain (gran) tourism style is fine by me...

It's missing the phone and the nav system. No go in my book.
What is up with the shifter? Looks like something you'd drive a truck with!

VA Steve,

That shifter is connected to a sequential gearbox! Awesome, eh?

Bet you could strap a cupholder to that shifter. Mighty handy location.

Seriously, I WANT ONE, BADLY!

While complaints persist about Porsche's reluctance to engage in factory race efforts, it is clear that they are keeping their eye on their dominant position as a supplier to customer run race teams.

It has been said that the classes below the prototypes are more interesting and better suited to long-term survivability of sportscar racing both here and in ROW. There are a dwindling number of prototype cars and the lack of factory participation has taken much of the competitive zest out of the prototype classes.

This new cup car is a technological step from the old cup cars. I can't wait to see them on track in the hands of some of the world's best drivers. After watching the Supercup race at Indy at the inaugural USGP, I foud them as much fun to watch as the F1 cars.

What's a race car doing with A/C vents?

Keeping the driver cool.

I didn't see an A/C compressor so my guess is that it's ventilation for the driver. It's a must have, either from the factory or cobbled together by the racing team mechanics.

The rear shot is already posted as my desktop. I saw a new one at the dealer last week. Went back last night to drool again and it was gone. Whats $117,000.00 to fulfill a dream? What a beautiful car.

This is good stuff !!!

All our reactions have been absolutely blinding !
Not one complaint about the looks of this 997 model. Compare this to what most of us think of the 996, it's a great sign that Porsche AG have taken into account what the customers want and delivered it.

Unfortunately delivering it in the shape of a GT Cup car means that we won't be seeing a single one of these on the roads
.......for the moment.

It's been almost 8 years since I've lusted after a new model 911 like this. God I want one.

Not A/C vents - they take the place of the air tubes on the current cup cars. But A/C in a race car would be deecaaaadeeeeent.......
