Centerline Oil Leak - Fix?
Okay, so I had my car up on the hoist the other day. Trying to figure out where the leaks are coming from. Looks like some were coming from the seals on the valve lowers, so I can take care of that when I put new gaskets in when I do the valves.
BUT. I've got some small leaks along the centerline of the engine. Looks like the PO threw some blue/grey silicone along the seam. Last rebuild was in 86. We've owned it since 88. We knew about the silicone, but there were no leaks. Runs smooth. Suggestions? Jim

If it is leaking at the seam not much you can do other than live with it. DOW does make a sealer that is oil resistant that you might or might not have success with on the seam. But it would require that the seam be completely cleaned and prepped. Stuff is not cheap, a tube is around $74.00. Aircraft Spruce sells it.
