Shipping Seats - UPS/Greyhound??

I know some of you all have shipped or bought seats from another Pelican or Ebay.

What shipping method did you use and how much was it?

Anyone have a clue as to how big a box you need to put in 2 seats and how much it might weigh?

Thanks all..

i shipped some seats via ups and had to put them in seperate boxes... maybe $50 a seat?

there's an online calculator at www.ups.com that will figure out the exact cost.

I shipped my power seats to Art zazdy (ithink thats how you spell it sorry if not) he is a fellow pelican and I think it was 75 bucks to ship from wisconsin to michigan ups. I bought some non powered ones from a pelican member from down south forget were and they were about 50 bucks shipped ups.

I made up some dimensions and got something like $220. Both your numbers sound way better.

I had a set of seats sent to me from CA. They came in a box that was 24" x 24" x37" and weighed 80 pounds. Use the UPS Shipping calculator to figure the shipping charges to your location.

I remember it being very specific as to which was the L,W, and Height. Also, if you go over some magic total number... the $'s go way up. The boxes I used to ship my seats (power stock 911 seats) were the same boxes that PAR shipped me my Recaro Speeds in.

As for boxes, maybe hit a local racing/tuner store and see if they have any extra seat boxes?

if you ship them greyhound they wont need boxes, they will sell the seats to passengers to sit in.

Steve,

The best way to ship seats is FedEx ground, my old SC seats and tracks weighed 33LBS each.
From NoVa to MS was 18.00 each.

I also have a set of spare boxes you can have, but this time you have to exchange my leaking oil return tube on the drivers side in leiu of payment .

Thanks George, these would be coming not going. You can keep your leaky tube!

Steve,

Darn!
I thought I had a helper.....

I guess I have to wait for you to need that custom little wrench to remove the seats

I have used forward air before, and they are by far the cheapest way to ship.
here is their link...http://www.forwardair.com

you need to check out their locations and call them, if they have a location near where your seats need to go and you and the buyer/seller don't mind going to the airport to Pick Up/Drop off. Then you will save big time over UPS or FED EX.

I shipped my old factory sport seats UPS Ground. I'm thinking it was around $80-100 for both boxes. I used the boxes that my Recaro SRD's came in. Check out a few "tuner" places for boxes to ship your seats in. As long as they are not too big and too heavy, UPS will send them.

I just had this problem shipping a bumper. The key is the total area of the package. A 10lb bumper would have cost me $80 to ship a couple hundred miles via UPS/FedEx, etc. Greyhound was $43. The only caveat is that you need to pick it up and drop it off at the local bus station.
