Another RS project. Mine! part 4
So I put the Tires that Tyson Schmidt gave my for my for my Linsey RSR finish 17x8 and 17x9.5. 275, 40 for the rear and 245, 40 for the front Victor racers. Here are some shots. Enjoy the Porsche Porn!

Those wheels look great. I might even give up my 7s and 9s for a set. Could you run the wheel specs cost by me once more, including the satin anodizing/polished rim effect?
Now about your front end ride height..... I fear the fender lip is going to catch on the tire while cornering. Are you running big torsion bars or coil-overs to prevent this? Good show, Sherwood |
joseph, looks great.
I didn't notice the outer rim was not frosted. Why? Here's the thread I saw the wheels in before: The other wheels photo |
Umm...umm...good! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/clap.gif

Sherwood,
I havent adjusted the front ride height yet. The car is stil jacked up pretty high in the rear still. I also do have some stiff tortions. 23/31 hollow bars with revalve Bilsteins. Andy, That was the pic that Mike From Linsey Racing sent me after he finished building them. It was hard to see what they looked like at the time until I had them in my house. Lip is polished. My camera doesnt do them justice either. I think its the flash. |
Wow, I didnt even realize those were 17s. Nice! They look great in that finish. Do you have a side profile shot of the complete car with them on?
|
Sherman,
Not yet. The car is jacked up because Tyson schmidt is doing some crazy suspension mods on the rear for better handling. Ill post that later. |
Nice!
|
lookin very good!
|
I love that wheel finish. If you ever want to trade for the polished petals and lips let me know. RSR annodization rocks! Keep up the good work.
Now that you have the car on 4 wheels you must roll it into daylight for some updated pictures. |
Joe,
Once again, an AWESOME job you've done there. I'm just itching to get started on mine. Unfortunately, the move and subsequent house remodeling have taken priority over my own "remodeling" desires. When I finally do start, I'm going to keep pictures of yours conspicuously posted in my garage as a reminder of what it should look like when I'm done! |
joseph, is the polished outer lip an RSR thing or something you just chose to do? If you chose do do it, why did you choose that? Just curious.
|
Those look fantastic!
|
Truly beautiful...congrats from an envious Porsche fan...

That's the way the RSR finish is. These are a little different than true RSR finish though. The RSR whells are rough-anodized centers with normal anodized lips. These wheels are media blasted to a sim ilar finish, and polished on the lip to get close to the same effect. |
Thank you for that, Tyson. Any idea why the factory chose to polish the lip? Maybe someone just decided it looked good, but there might be a purpose!
|
hmmm, those tired look very familiar... :-D
Joe, looks great man! can't wait to meet the toad in the spring when I am out there again. --James |
Does anyone know if Lindsey can use 15x6's for cores? I think their site mentions 16's but I've thought I've heard people using 15's.
|
There were two "Part 4" threads, so I just changed this one to 5.
|
I'm convinced. No way these 17s are in my immediate future, but that RSR finish will look great on some deep 6s coming soon.
Hello, Al.... |
Dang, Joe, looking good! I may be selling my 7&9's for a set of those bad boys!
|
Thanks for all the good words to everyone. It hasnt been easy so I do appreciate the complements. Im getting toward the end of the reassembly. Tyson Schmidt has been a lifesaver with his infinate wisdom on these cars. Its true! He's a walking porsche guru. He eats, sleeps *****s this stuff. I would say that the car would still be on stands if it wasn't for him, TREmotorsport(Dave B) and a few more people I met along the way.
Anyway, the motor, trans, and rear suspension are in. I lost a couple of nuts and bolts along the way so I think that a TRE visit is in order. I need a good day on the molding and rear grill. I need to spray them black. It seems like I will have a busy week so I don't know how much will be done. Here a couple of shots. Tyson is installing the rear tortion bars. Polybronze bushing and monoballs are also in. We were not able to put on the left rear wheel as the spindle is not in yet. We had to see what it looked like so the acr is proped up for a picture. After everything is done, i'll go over the car and do the detail work. Tyson says shes too nice to track now. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096353611.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096353676.jpg My tired 2.4 with S pistons and E cams. I degreased it before install. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096353786.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096353818.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096353863.jpg PS The supension has not been setup yet so she may look alittle tall. Tall for me anyway! |

looks good Joe. Tyson is the man with these cars. Just stay out of his way, he can become very, hmm, shall we say, evil? ha!
Oh and fellas, don't let Joe fool you, he is damn good hand on these cars too. The work he did on Scruffy was top notch and I enjoy it everytime I drive the car. --James |
Great work Joseph!!! The Toad is looking mighty EVIL. Might have to drive down there soon and see it up close and personel.
And Tyson is EVIL We need a few more of him. Somebody have a cloning machine? James, Please remember to post pictures of Scruffy at regular intervals, we miss that 911 out here on the west coast. :) |
pics on the way, I am sans camera at the moment but once I have a new one I will post some. No major changes to her yet, just driving her! I need to get that damn 964 tail working. I have power to thru the switch and to one side of the plug at the tail but not the other. So we'll have to see how I can progress this weekend.
--James p/s I wish this new job was out in LA. You guys have the Porsche perfect life! |
That looks about like my garage, but cleaner! good job guys!

Thanks James. Hopefully the car will be ready the next time I see you. I might be starting a new project soon that might limit me from finishing the car. Dan, Your always welcome in my house. Mi casa es su casa. |
