Ortega Hwy Run/BBQ at Motion's house this Sun Sept 19th!
I wanted to start a new thread with Ortega Hwy in the title to make sure we get everyone in OC we can. Reference more detail on the route in this thread.
Food - I believe Ralph is bringing some surplus halibut (yummy). Others will be bringing their favorite bbq-ables. Question: How to keep this stuff cold/frozen during our run and before the bbq? Drinks - Bring your favorites. I'll have some soda, beer and wine on hand. Passengers - Bring em! Wives, kids, GFs... don't worry. This will be PG rated all the way ![]() I have a pool, so bring your suits if you want to jump in. We should be hitting the house around noon, so it should be warm. My address for those that want to create their own map route: xxxxxxxxx Any other details we need to discuss??

I'm on board.
Bringing Belgian beer and some Hefe. Motion, is there a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's close to your place? I thought hitting the store on the way back from the run might be the best way to attack the cold-storage issue. Jason

Hmmm ... maybe more takers if rated R?
But I would suspect a Motion house-party is usually rated X ![]() (I'm really jealous of you CA guys seeing that I'm stuck here in MI)

Rick and project935.... do you need a better excuse to get out here for a weekend? I mean, its going to be 85 and sunny. Not too late to round up a ticket
![]() Jason - There's a Trader Joe's 3 minutes down the street. Great idea! Albertson's next door also.

I'm in, and the wife and son have expressed interest in the BBQ portion. My son's eyes got big as saucers when he was told there was a pool he could swim in!
I can supply wild salmon and halibut to feed the whole group or if you guys want to do a potluck that will be fine as well. I just need to know what the popular opinion is so I can guess as to how much fish to thaw. Richard, my wife can either bring the fish to the BBQ or I can hook up with you beforehand and put it in your fridge/freezer. My motor is all apart (see different thread) and everything is sent out to the machine shop, powdercoaters, cad platers, polishers, etc. Since I don't have a 911 to drive, does Chris still have his passenger seat available? George and Mike, should I bring the front strut bars for you??? Let me know before the weekend so I can go pick them up from my buddy. I'm trying to get him to come as well but I think his kids have soccer all day Sunday. Ralph |

Motion, we still need to figure out meeting place and time. Should we meet at Starbucks again but probably a little later than last time so we can be at your place by 12pm. By the way thanks for opening up your house for us.

How about meeting at Starbucks at 7:00 with a 7:30 departure time? The Starbucks is located just east of the 5 Freeway at the Ortega Hwy/Hwy 74 exit. Its about 1/8 mile on the left side in a small retail center.
Ralph - Very generous of you to bring the fish! I'd personally love a little halibut... maybe others can chime in about the fish so you can estimate how much to bring. Your wife can bring it right to my house at 12ish, or you can stop by before 7:00. I'm about 15 minutes from the Starbucks.

I'm in, and Ralph you can count me in for the fish. I'll try to drag my bro-in-law and his SC out for the run, and possibly my friend (and former Ralph roommate) Bert. Dave are you still up for riding shotgun?

Rich, I would love to stop by, but this is the first weekend I will be home from the races in a long time, and have lots to catch up on. It was nice to meet you at Laguna Seca last weekend!! Thanks for stopping by. We'll have to get together sometime soon to BS etc.

Chris,
Great meeting you as well! Always good to put a face to a screenname. Sorry you can't make it on Sunday... would love to get together sometime to talk Swift, Atlantics, P-cars, etc. Looks like these Ortega runs will be regular, so I'll be sure and let you know about the next one.
