dashboard covers
Any of you guys know about that company Dashmat.com that makes dasboard replacements, how are they? how do they look? I have shaved mine down flat after it was all curled up and put one of those black plastic ones on temporarily.

It looks like a carpet toupee on your dash.
![]() If you have to go with some sort of cover (as opposed to biting the bullet and replacing the dash completely), a properly installed black plastic one will be the lesser of two evils, IMHO.

What about covering the existing dash in something, say tweed? I have a replacement, but that's a job I can not to tackle right now.

Replacing the dash - at least in an SC - takes a saturday afternoon. That includes popping the window and putting it back. It is much easier than you'd think. While $600 for a new dash is steep, the thing is in your view whenever you drive the car.
I would keep it as is until you have the time and money to do it right. Furry mats, plastic covers, curled leather pieces, there is no compromise, you got to bite the bullet and just replace the sucker. George |

Where can you get a dash for 600.00$? I believe they are more like 800.00$ now.

Of all the dash repair solutions I've seen these seem to be the best... http://www.worlduph.com/porsche5.htm (Scroll halfway down)
From a reputable company as well.

I have a Dashmat in my car that I bought on eBay last spring. I like the way it looks and it hasn't fallen off yet.

Right with ya ScottKelly911. A dash pad is at the top of my list and will just about complete my interior. I'm not worried about stock value but at the same time i don't want any one piece to look totally out of place. The carbon fiber dash sounds way cool though. I hope someone comes up with an installed picture.

One thing someone posted once about a carbon fiber dash is an accident. Carbon fiber breaks off in nice jagged pieces. Think about your hand (or your head) hitting one of those jagged pieces in an impact.
Just my two cents. Michael

I have seen carbon fiber dashes in cars of our era. The fit seems poor and it looks out of place. Carbon fiber isn't the material of the era and it gives a real 'wannabe' look.
Now, if it comes to weight savings for a racecar on large body panels and doors, carbon fiber makes a whole lot of sense. But for a street car that vinyl dash doesn't weigh anything to start with! George |

For rebuilt/replicas with a lifetime warrantee to the original owner try:
justdashes.com You can get one for around $500 that is better quality than the original & looks just like one.

With all due respect to just dashes - they have an excellent reputation - I'd take the one out of the Porsche - Made in Germany box over the rebuild any day!
Remember, there is a bunch of plastic snap ins on the back of the dash that are nice to have brand new and installed. Your old dash will be still old on the back side. Maybe I am doing them wrong, but likely Just Dashes will not be able to replace those snap ons and I am unsure if they can be bought separately. George |

Just thought I'd post a couple of pix that I found off of AIR's Website
![]() Doesn't say how much and doesn't show it in the car, so I can't say how it fits, but they sure do look nice, imagine those with the RS America style Carbon fiber door panels...ok so it's bling, I still think it could look cool

One complaint I've heard about CF dash's in general is a problem with glare from the sun . I don't know this first hand but it's something to consider .
Barclay , if you remove your dash, take it to a local upholstery shop and they should be able to recover it . I just did mine last week for the purpose of color change and it looks good . Jim |
