Oil Cooler Flush how to?
I have a '71 2.2 motor that I'm going to put into my '72 coupe. The "on the motor" oil cooler from the '71 is threaded for a hose, whereas the '72 oil cooler I have has more or less a hose barb that the hose slides over and is hose clamped on. I have the correct oil cooler setting on a shelf in the garage but it's really filthy on the outside. Since I don't know how it's been treated (it was laying in the front trunk when I picked up the car) I'm concerned that it could have a small amount of grit, dirt, what have you in the cooler, which needless to say wouldn't get along with the interior of the motor very well. Does anyone know a surefire way to flush one of these out? I need to sort this out so I can get it on the motor and get the motor in the car. Thanks!

Funny coincidence...Evren bought a used cooler in silimilar condition. Before I ship it to Istanbul, and after having a conversation with Jeff Gamroth of ROTHSPORT, I'm going to have it ultrasonically cleaned and pressure tested. Jeff contracts this out to a service, told me it's a must-do before installing any used oil cooler. He said this process will even remove metal bits from a cooler that came from a car with a blown engine. Jeff also frowned upon the practice of sending coolers to a radiator shop. I put a lot of faith in Jeff's opinion, suggestions, and the work out of his shop.

I think he said around $80...I plan on taking Evren's cooler up there (I'm 90 miles from the shop) when I drop my car off for a few days. That'll be in 6 weeks or so.
