I think the guy that designed and built that car was on Monster Garage. He wouldn't take Jesse's advice on pressure testing a reconfigured gas tank he was welding together. Sure enough after it was installed it leaked.

Cool car.

I was at a charity car show in Beverly Hills a few months back.
That is the car Jay Leno drove to the show.
What a beast.
Here are a couple of pix.

It's cool in a different kind of way. I'd have it if I had the disposable income. I don't really think it's setup to be a canyon carver.

I have heard that the blue jeans and denim shirt is pretty much all he wears when not in a suit.

I don't care what anyone thinks, judging by the smile on Jay's face I think that tells the whole story

Jay loves unusual and mechanically complex retro cars. His collection is getting larger and larger. Though not a Porsche or Ferrari fan, his love of all cars has been beneficial to all of us (witness recent rumours of his contacts with Ahnold over the old car/smog issues bill in Kalifornia) He is counter to the media frenzied anti-car culture whose mantra is "cars bad, cars bad , cars bad" and has helped to a great measure to bring cars back into being cool.
I always look forward to seeing him show up in something different

He recently tested a Carrera GT and loved it, so he bought one...along with a Ford GT and an SLR. He loves how you have to actually drive the CGT, loves the tiny clutch. Maybe he's a convert?

I think that car is awesome. What a cruiser!

I believe it's powered by a miltary tank engine. Go Jay!

Saw a TV show a couple months ago where Jay drives the car and talks about the building of it - what a monster!

Powered by a US tank engine putting out 1560 ftlb of torque.... this is incredibly cool. Why not? It's not supposed to be a lightweight 911. It's supposed to be fun, and by the looks of Jay's face, I'd say it's there in spades. With Jay's total support of anything on 4 wheels, I'm all behind "anything" he wants to do in the way of automobiles.

Does anyone have a soundclip of this engine????

It was on the show My Classic Car, the host is the person w/ the long handle bar mustache. Notice the Oregon tag on the vehicle. Guess it wouldn't pass a CA emissions test.

The tach says "engine revs x 1000". So according to my reading that car redlines at 3,000,000 RPM. Damn!
