air filter

If someone were to install an after-market airfilter setup such as ITG or K&N, what is the acceptable option for the the oil tank breather which normally goes back to the stock air filter housing?

for 3.2's...I've found that you need to look for a "nipple" on the various cone types available for this car...some have it....some don't...

I wouldn't simply let it habg in-space, even with a small filter. If you go this way, have it go into a dump bottle....with a small filter on top ( vent) and a drain valve on the bottom. I consider this a bit of a problem.

Alternatively, just replace the filter element with a K&N ( if that's the intent) and segment the front half of the stock airbox , a la "Cup"...again, assuming 3.2 or 3.6 configuration.

There is also a kit that takes the breather line, splits it into two, and connects to the rubber grommets in the Watershield K&N covers. I made my own using parts from the hardware store for about $5 plus the cost of the hose to make the connections. It helped reduce the hot oil smell in the car and eliminates any drips that might come from the filter on the end of the hose.

Although not very clear in this pic, you can see my oil tank breather hose plugs into a nipple on the air filter itself.

yep.. I guess you need a tight engine.. meaning blow-by will have to go somewhere. I'm lucky it's tighter than a crabs ass.. and that's water tight.. and so far no drips. The filter isn't even oil soaked after 1,000mi.

fwiw for carb guys.
I just got the K&N watershield 40 micron "socks" or K&N bs calls it a precharger. I haven't installed it yet.. and don't really have a dirt prob as per the finger and tissue wipe act inside the filter. I figure if it's good enough for Island it's good enough for me when I do my big rides.. whatever
