Front end adjuster question
 

Now that the ride height is where I want it on the 912-6, the front end has a good clunk when I go over a bump. I've tracked it down to the front end ajusters. With the front end raised, the adjusters don't touch the stops, so when I go over a bump the adjuster is bouncing into the stop.

I've got hard bushings and stiffer torsion bars (21's I think) and Bilstein shocks.

Anyone think this will be an issue? Should I loctite or lock nut the adjuster in place, maybe safety wire it?

I'm not sure I'm envisioning what you're saying, but perhaps you need to re-index the adjuster so that it makes contact ...even when "unloaded".

Sounds to me, like Wil is saying, that your adjusters aren't adjusting anything. I think you should reindex your torsion bars to drop the car down so you can actually use the adjusters.

But if I re-index the front end adjuster so it touches while unloaded, it would in effect change position when loaded and raise the front end.

Maybe what I need is a backlash spring between the cap and the cross member to keep tension on it when unloaded.

So does anyone have a diagram or picture of where the cap should be at zero load? I think I started at horizontal when I installed the new torsion bars.

I think you can support the A-arms and find another point where the adjuster makes contact. Once ( and If !) you do...try to duplicate that setting on the other side as precisely as you can...so the pre-load and ride height have a chance of being the same.....
