Dash Mounted Chronographs?

Anybody attempted to mount a timer/chronomoter on the dash similar to te ones mounted on the 997? Was reading the 997 review in the LA Times and thought something like that would be easy to fabricate - and functional. Could use it to time myself on my morning coffee run? May be my next project?
