Scuba. Yup. It's home made. I've got a hoist on the ceiling to lift the car. Car goes up, then slide the rotisserie under the car. If you've got a few guys (at least six) maybe they could hold it while being attached. Me and my two brothers can lift the whole thing off the ground without too much trouble.
Every time I work on the car, I pat myself on the back. Since the shell needed so much work, it was well worth the effort to build.

I started with the blueprints in the factory shop manuals to determine the relative distance between the mounts. This way I could at least have the car level. I had to guess on the center of gravity though. I found a number of variations on the internet, so from some of the pictures, I knew I'd be pretty close. There is a little adjustment also. I modeled the assembly in Solid Edge, a CAD software program. Then I generated the drawings from the assembly.

Here's mine, a '72 T coupe, still in the planning stages. The engine's a 71 2.2 that I just bought from another board member. Long term plans call for a 3+L motor and a body in the original Tangerine with looks something like jpnovak's ST.

Hey, you got a good '72! My piece of crap from Grand Rapids just has a nicer paint job covering up the rust. I just separate the case today so my engine rebuild can begin. I'm still trying to get a body guy lined up to check out the tub.

911scfanatic. Mine has some rust issues, there's a bit in the driver's side rocker around the jack point and minor rust in the front pan, but overall it's a really solid car. You need to post pics of the '72 that you liberated from GR.

You guys make me feel like an ass for buying a 911 that specifically didn't need work. Did (doing) plenty of that with 2 VW bugs...

If there were more hours of the day, this thread is the stuff I love doing! JW I admire that you can do this, or at least partially, for a living, although I realize you work hard and it's not easy.

I'm itching to get my fingers gritty and my arms sunburned from welding again though... explains why I'm looking for another car as a RS or R project!

klaucke, believe me, I would like to buy one that didn't need work! This one found me and I decided to bring it home and restore it to my taste. It's fun working on them, but I wish I had one I could drive right now!
