Twin Turbo S... how it ruined my life

Hey everyone,

I've never really been envious of another 911 before, and to be honest I don't really like the looks of any 911 built after the 964s, the 993s just look goofy with their laid back weird looking headlights, and the 996s... don't get me started on those watercooled, throw-away, pieces of crap. They don't seem exceptionally fast on a track either, in fact I'd delight in passing them in my car.

However, yesterday a customer brought in his '97 Turbo S... it's still a 993, and the spoiler actually looks a lot dumber on the car than I thought it would, but oh my god... silver with red leather interior... the yellow painted calipers look a little odd, but overall it has to be one of the single most amazing looking cars I've ever seen. Some of the interior is overly extravagant and looks stupid, but still... I could think of many worse ways to blow 60 or 70 grand.

lol, anyway, just thought you guys could appreciate my pain.

Andrew

That would be a nice down-payment. They usually sell for 90-100k.
The regular 993 twin turbos are in the 60-70k range.

wastintime,

Was in Charleston last week, and saw more P-Car that trip, then I have seen in the last three years there.

That was going to be my response. Sounds like this guy really knows a lot about Porsches...

Mark, even though you sold both of your goofy looking 993s, you will always remain goofy looking to me

The only '97 turbo S models that I've ever seen for sale were garage queens w/ ultra low miles in the $150k range, so if they are now ~$100k they must be coming down in value. $60-70k would get one that ran into a wall.

I agree w/ Denis. Maybe the original poster meant $50-$60 k for extravagant interior options. Not hard to rack that up with Special Wishes.

Sloan cars are way over priced. The majority of the inventory is consignment.

There was a TurboS on ebay that had been crashed and repaired (poorly I'd say for a $175K car when new) that went for a hair under $90,000, mileage was super high, like in the low 20,000 range.

And as for those water-cooled throw away pieces of crap, your car wouldn't stand a chance against a GT3/2 or Turbo around a track or on the street

You got ruined by the way a 993TT-S looks? The looks are the worst thing about that car. Good thing you didn't actually drive it.

I spoke with a local guy here in Grand Rapids with a nice red 993TT he bought out west. He said that he drove it home and actually touched off a couple of 180 +/- runs through some desolate parts of Montana. With performance like that, how can you possibly go wrong?
