What's easiest way to find vacuum leak.

I'm not a fan of spraying carb cleaner into a hot engine bay...what else can I use to look for leaks on my 3.6.

Water, propane. Carb cleaner is the easiest. IMO

The BEST way is to use a "smoke machine". OTC and Vacutech make one. They are very expensive, around $1000, but I used one and found a vacuum leak on just about everything I own in seconds.

If it's 'hissing' put a length of pipe to your ear and fish around with the other end near where you suspect it is leaking. You will hear when you've found it.

I have an electronic beeper vac and exhaust detector. I paid about $150 from Snap-On. I believe OTC sells the same unit. I guess "toolman" would know more about it?

Propane bottle with a hose on it. Turn on the gas and move the hose tip around all your fittings. Engine will speed up noticeably when leak is present.

I've lent it to shops that have spent days trying to find a vac leak.. usually 15min-1hr and it's found with this unit.
