Is the following parts list indicative of the complete G50 update
I am looking at purchasing a car that recently had it's clutch replaced. As part of a clutch replacement, the following parts are listed on the service invoice:
93110211100 BRNG, PILOT (I assume BRNG = bearing) 95011602303 PRESSURE PLATE 95011608008 T O BRNG (I assume this it the throwout bearing) 95011681306 GUIDE TUBE 93011601402 CLUTCH DISC 95011672500 COVER, CLUTCH SHAFT 95011671302 HOLDER 99920136500 NEEDLE BEARING 99920133900 NEEDLE BEARING 95011671004 CLUTCH SHAFT 95011671501 BUSHING, CLUTCH FORK (2) Are these parts indicative of all G50 updates having been performed? |
The update is really just the bearings, shaft and bushings (which I haven't seen sold separately but if you can get them go for it, the update is done with the factory solution by using a new lever arm with plastic bushings already installed).
If you haven't updated your early G-50 and you are doing this yourself, be advised that you need a special tool (very special, it is an elaborate guided ream) to increase the size of the needle bearing supports on the transmission itself. A popular way of doing this upgrade is to use a "no drill" update kit (I bought one and then found out that my trans had already been updated!) - this has bronze bushings for the clutch release lever and a new shaft that fits the standard needle bearings in the "pre-updated" G-50. Hell, if you want the kit with the bushings already installed let me know, I'll sell it for 50% of new. Chris Brown |

Can anyone here confirm if these parts are, or are not, indicative of a G50 update?

Thanks for the correction KTL (erroneous info removed)

Maybe mmm didn't mention the labor for machining the trans.? Because those part numbers are indeed indicative of the clutch assembly being serviced with the updated throwout bearing, updated guide tube, new style clutch release fork bushings, release shaft & bearings. I'm 100% certain. You can't use those parts if your trans. has not been machined to accept them.
Also, the part number for the clutch disc indicates the disc is a 911 Turbo spring centered disc, which is good. One thing that is strange though. I didn't think the bearings in the clutch fork could be replaced with the new bushings? I thought you had to get a whole new fork, as I don't see a separate listing in my parts manual for those plastic bushings. Wonder where those bushings (950.116.715.01) for the fork came from? |
Here is the full invoice if that helps (2 pages), it does show labor for updating the transmission housing.

Thanks for posting the invoice.
Just goes to show that you can save a good buck by doing your own work. In this case, parts cost = labor cost = a savings of around $1500!!! That's nothing to sneeze at. |
