Strut Brace Confusion

I have been thinking about adding a strut brace to my 911. I have been looking inthe used section but rarely see one so I figure they last the life of a car and then disintegrate when the car is junked.

Anyway, it seems I can buy a basic style from our host (a JM Product) for about $120 or spend much more from others. Why should I spend more?

My plan is for occasional AutoX use (5-8 times/year) and normal P-car driving.

Any thoughts?

Same here, I have been looking at all the braces. Is there a strength difference?

Last I heard, effects are minimal, so you need to go with the elephant racing triangulated one, that attaches to floor as well. I do not yet have one, so I have not "expert" opinion.

I have the simple bar. MMarsh posted a method on how to properly mount them. meaning the mfg don't have a clue. other than that when I take this serious for my street car I'm gonna do whaterver I can get away with to stiffen up the front end.. maybe Charlie bar, maybe Elephant Racing. I haven't really investigated yet but I would figure that Elephant Racing probably improved on the best design available.

I have a straight, basic aluminum bar by Rennline. I like it. I can't say much about the difference it made, since I installed it together with all new suspension bits (turbo tierods, 22mm torsion bars, hard bushings etc ...). I believe that the strut brace in the 911 does not make that much of a difference, since there is no engine sitting in there and the solid pan is pretty good at stiffening things up, compared to a car with an engine and a big hollow section there... The rennline bar is light and nicely done. If I'd be more serious, I'd go with the Elephant stuff.
