Aero mirrors - have these parts, what else??

OK folks, I need your help. I have these 2 mirrors, what other parts & their numbers do I need from the P-car dealer to mount on my 911?

I know I need the mirror bases for a 911 and gaskets.....anything else?

Part numbers?

These are non-powered mirrors off a Cup car. (Dig that orange - I actually like it)

THX
Craig

Aren't those the bases that are mounted to the mirrors? That's all I had plus gaskets. Measure, mock up, and measure again before drilling the holes. Mine went well and I liked the result.

You made the first right decision and bought them used...they are a REAL pain to assemble from new parts.

Luke -

I think you are right - maybe all I need are the gaskets!

I read posts last night detailing assembly from the Porsche 'no instruction' kit - the power ones especially look like a no-fun nightmare!

Yes, you only need the gaskets.

I carefully made an elongated hole for the aduster to tighten against it. Be careful because this hole gets fairly close to the top of the gasket. I told my wife after completion that I wouldn't recommend this to anyone because of the installation difficulty and "risk" of new skins. It is a nice look in my eyes though....never fond of square mirrors and a lote easier to use than Talbots.

Luke & all -

I have not a clue as to what it takes to do this - is it easy once I receive the mirrors that are pictured above? Have any pics of any of the locating and drilling process?

The aero mirrors fit in the same hole as the flag mirrors, and there are detailed instructions for drilling the holes for the flags in the factory service manual set. As for the rest, the mounting is identical, just watch out that the driver and passenger sides are different (passenger is further back to clear the sight line).

I would think all you need are the base gaskets and the mounting plates (inside the doors to reinforce the sheet metal) and two pop rivets to hold the plates on.
