Can't identify a 911 at a dealers lot
My friend called me and said he saw a 911 he couldn't identify(i am looking for a 911 to buy and he is helping me). It was was a dealers lot that specializes in exotic and Amercan muscle cars.
He said the engine lid had 911S on it. (The only "S" I am aware of was in 1974) It also had a side mirror only on the drivers side. He also indicated the headlight trims(?) were not body colored but were chrome. Other than that he said the body looked like an SC or Carrera and it was CLEAN. Does anyone have a clue? I want to stop by and see it myself tomorrow, but if it's some rare $50k model then forget it. Any ideas on what he saw? |

if the body looked like an SC or Carrera, it can be the '74-'77 911S's. Otherwise, it would be the early (pre '73) 911S's...the only cars that the "S" matters

No, Plymouthcolt.. they has "S' cars through '77. '74 was the last year they imported cars without the "S" engine...The '74 was available in the US with either the "S" engine or the lower performance version. "75 and later, there was no US option..all cars had the sportier "S" engine. Of course, if it is a '74, the "S" is preferable.

Try to get a VIN number. It will be easier to identify. The car could be an early model (pre-74) that has had a body update kit installed.
