Front chin spoiler options... Need input.
My stock 84 carrera front chin spoiler has a few dents in it and the paint is not pristine. I was thinking about having the dents worked out and getting it repainted. What are my other options for good looks in the front?
I got beads, so show me your.... chins? :D Pics would be awesome... much love... Jojo |
Let me clarify, the whole chin has the dents, not just the plastic spoiler...

Randy,
Beads to you. I like your quote about spending your money... Nice... Jojo |
Jojo:
I'd consider going with a ruf front spoiler and a center oil cooler. Your car could run cooler in the summer than it does now with the brass tube radiator. A later carrera radiator upgrade in place of the tube cooler may do the trick, but may still be too little for hot days in the central valley. My SC sure could use more cool than just the carrera upgrade. The advantage of the center cooler is that it will have superior cooling. The disadvantage is, that you will leak oil and spend more $ next time you hit something. :D Last time I checked the carrera valence repro was $90 at parts heaven. A can of spray from www.paintscratch.com, and you should be all set! See you at the werkstatt! George |

A single CHT probe will give you a heads-up on the future of your oil temps. I adjust gearing and speed to it. The hill N of la la land on I-5 in 90deg+ ambiant is a PIA. |
Thanks George... Keep in mind that I am a novice racer, and it takes a lot of guts to learn the POINT-N-SHOOT driving style. I figure the minor damage to the front valence was a small price to pay for understanding the racing dynamics of the vehicle. It's not like I hit a BEAR or anything...:p
See you at the Werkstatt... Jojo |
Where can one find that RUF spoiler?

The RUF-style front air dam do look great. There's been some threads on the RUF-style pieces, do a search.

I think a special kind of paint is used for front chin spoiler. It will look like many small dents. It should not be smooth like the body paint
|
its referred to as a "hammer finish" I don't know if Porsche does it with special paint. I think they use a special undercoat with some elasticity to prevent chipping.
