Ruf/3.6/Paint project that keeps going and going and going
I have had my car for almost a year and it has turned into one project after another. 1st was the Ruf front and rear bumper update, then the carrera tail, then new seats, next I decided to put a 3.6 litre in the engine bay. If I would have stopped there I would have been driving a month ago but the paint was very, very tired so I began disassembly and it has been and uphill battle every since. My paint had some crackling in the clear so I decide to take it down below for best results. Well that required me to take it all the way down to bare metal. Aircraft stripper is not for the faint of heart. You have to fully commit before you lay that stuff on and any previous body work ala bondo will be gone
with all the paint too. So what you have is a fresh body panel with all the imperfections underneath. Looking back on it I dont think that I would have stripped the rear quarter but it is done now. I used some rust protector then a heavy epoxy primer over that. I have got it nice and slick now so I am ready for a final coat of primer sealer then the base coat/clear. I am about two weeks away. Here are a few pics:
btw.. I am going to put a Ruf emblem on the rear deck lid.
Should I axe the Porsche crest on front or keep it?
Couple of the pics are of the muffler tip that I did this afternoon. I have to cut the rear bumper and install the other side next weekend along with drilling the holes in the rear lid for the carrera tail and emblem...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096872119.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096872128.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096872138.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1096872146.jpg
