quickie pedal cluster/master question
I haven't done any extensive digging in that area other than the clutch cable so I'm unfamiliar w/ the ease of (or lack of) access *down there.*
Can a master be replaced w/ the pedal cluster in place? Is it any easier to perform w/ out the cluster in the way? I'll be taking mine out and in case I find problems w/ the master, I'd like to have one on hand to replace as well instead of installing the cluster and then taking it out again. Thanks. |

On your 73.5T the mc comes off from underneath the car. You will probably need to remove your floor boards to assist in the reassembly.

Yes, the MC comes out from teh bottom of the car. It inserts into a hole in front of the pedal cluster and the plunger pin from the brake pedal goes inside the MC. To take off, remove the belly pan, disconnect the brake lines, pull out the feed lines from the top and then remove the two M8 (13mm wrench) nuts from the MC. These nuts screw onto studs mounted to the pedal cluster. They form a sadnwich with the tub.
When you reinstall, you will need access to the pin on the brake pedal. It must go into the MC or you will have no brakes.
