Would like some input on this thought.

Just a few months ago, i painted my fan with high temp paint, silver. Its now coming off, possibly due to that it is just paint and not powder coat. Now Ive ultimatly decided to powder coat it. Ive looked at almost every color scheme on the forums, and nothing seems to really catch my eye really well. Now what would you guys think of a chameleon color fan or even engine theme. The thought just crossed my mind today, not 100% about doing this at all yet. Is there even such a powder coat in this color. If you guys have any other ideas, throw them at me. I'm just looking to be a little more unique.

Let me be the first to say... rice.

What color is a chameleon? Green? Brown? I thought that they change they're colors depending on the environment that surrounds them.

What about a camoflauge fan cover! That could be cool!

BeauBlues 10-05-2004 02:53 PM

Well ive just looked at some pictures of the paint and now im leaning away from that color. Well, my car is guards red. Should the engine color go along with the exterior color at all or does it not matter?

Not necessarily:

The color scheme is up to you. The factory used specific colors for fan shrouds in specific models in specific years, but the fans themselves were always natural. Since you want to be unique maybe you would use something they didn't use, like matching your eyes. I hope they're not guards red!:D

Seriously, if you take a look through all the postings with pics on this board, you will find that people's aesthetics vary wildly. Do what you like.

I agree it would be cool, but then it would be so hard to see no one else would know it was cool;)

I know you guys are going to flame me for this but what about just the stock look? the PO of my previous ride went crazy with the paint can and first me and now Tyson are having to basically undue what was done. I guess what my feedback would be is, pick something that a future owner wouldnt be shocked by. A good clean stock look is as cool as anything painted IMO

K. Roman 10-05-2004 06:59 PM

True.

BeauBlues 10-05-2004 07:10 PM

Well I don't really plan to sell the car anytime soon or mabye not at all. This is a car I want to keep as long as a can. Hey Kluacke, what do you mean by a camo fan cover?

mjshira 10-05-2004 07:16 PM

in that case I would stick with a darker metal color so that even a bit dirty it will still look nice. some of the bright tones that guys use remind me of some "bomb can rebuilds" (as my Dad used to call them) that folks would do to lesser cars.

Kurt, may I please come over to your house, and eat off of your engine? Chameleon, uhhhh, no. Factory exterior color on fans I've always thought was nice, just powdercoat so you don't get that rattle can flaking look after a month.

Does anyone knows were can I found a carbon fiber fan? I just see a photo of one a month ago and I love it.

Randy Webb 10-05-2004 08:46 PM

Powdercoat will last a lot longer than rattle can spray paint. You can get silver too.

I think I've seen some CF fans at Jerry Woods -- doubt if they last very long.

Randy do you know the web site address
thanks
