Tire info Poll (Sort of)
In order for some of us to get a better handle on tires being used/preffered by other Pelicanheads, I would appreciate as much feedback as possible.

Fenders (Flares, mods): RSR flares Comments: This is the best dry tire with a wear rating of 140 or higher. |

Rim type and size: Front: 6x15 Fuchs Rear: 7x15 Fuchs Tire preference: Currently running Toyo T1-S (street) in 205/55/15 front / 225/50/15 rear Running Toyo RA-1 (track) 205/50/15 all around (next season I'll have a set of Hoosiers ready to go when the Toyo's are done) Normal driving conditions/habits: mixed street, highway and track use Fenders (Flares, mods): none Comments: don't recall my camber settings. Running 21mm front / 26mm rear torsion bars. |
Car: 85 911 Euro Cab
Stock Wheels and Tires: Front 6x16 (205/55) Rear 7x16 (225/50) Tires: Goodrich G-Force T/A KDW Driving: hard on the back road twisties. no track (yet!) Comments: This is a good dry tire - mucho grip. Not ultimate like the K/Ds, but that's for wild men on the track like Jack.........A lot of tire for the money if you get it at the right price. Supposed to be loud though, but I can't hear 'em in the open car over that flat six. |
1973 911
8 & 9.5 x 17 Fikse wheels. Yoko AVS ES-100s. Currently 225 fronts and 255 rears. Not really happy with them on this car. They are a great tire on my underpowered 944, but the 911 (W/3.2 power) can simply overpower them. They are okay for street driving. Hoosiers for autocrossing. Cararra flares added, ooched out an additional 1/4 inch or so to fit 275's. |

Car: stock 87 coupe
Wheels: 7 and 9 x 16 Fuchs Tires: Bridgestone SO3 (225/45 front and 245/45 rear) Driving: sunny week-ends (60%) and track (40%) Fender flaires: stock body Comments: Great tires but get greasy when hot at track. Half tread left after 4,000 miles. Time to upgrate stock 17 yr old suspension and leave the SO3s for the street and upgrate to RA1s for the track. Then move to ES100 or Proxes TS1 for street. |

'83 SC Rim type and size: Front: 6J Fuch 205/55 Rear: 7J Fuch 225/50 Tire preference: Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position SO-3s Normal driving conditions/habits: 2-3 times a week commuter driver, weekend canyon carver. Fenders (Flares, mods): Stock fenders, camber setup up a little more negative, somewhere in between street and track. Comments: I had Pirelli P4000 all around before the SO-3s, so consider that my basis. Also consider that I live in a dry climate (southern california), so not much consideration of wet driving conditions. With that being said, I have been very impressed with the tires as they have "broken in". However, the soft(er) compound of this tire does cause noticeably faster wear when compared to my Pirellis. After two days in the canyons (140 miles of twisties) I could see the difference in my rear tire wear with my eyes. Question am I satisfied to buy these tires again? Indeed I am. |
