Update: Ignitioneering

Anyone have any experience with Ignitioneering? I need my disributor re-curved and got a recomendation to the shop from a muscle car guy. I called and they work on Bosch distributors, have a 3-4 hour turn time and only charge $30-$50. So far so good, just looking for others opinions.

Thanks in advance!

Bump

Curious if this shop should go on my "list".

if it's old enough for a recurve it may be old enough for a rebuild

Thanks I'll have them give me their opinion. The distributor is in good shape from what I see and know. After I could not set the timing the first time correctly (too much advance) I took a look inside and found two diffrent springs. I replaced one with a tighter spring and the curve got better, but it's not correct.

I bought a new 2.7 Carrera dizzy for under $300. Pelican sells them. I keep the decent 100k stock dizzy in spare parts.

Should probably go with them. I talked to Chris at Newport MS to get his recommendation on this issue. Apparently Henry at Supertec owns the only other local re-curving machine that he knows of... Dunno if he'd do it or not though.

Thanks Jason for checking on this. I've talked to Henry about this and the price and turnaround was lets just say diffrent. No knock to Henry it's probably just to small of a job for a busy shop.

Got my distributor back to day, turnaround was only four hours but I did not want to sit on the freeway during rush hour to pick it up yesterday. Everything checked out fine it just needed a recurve. I would highly reccomend the shop, FYI the shop is also known as Orange County Speed. I actaully used the shop before when they extended a magnecor coil wire for me free of charge a few months back.

What did they do for a recurve? Was the curve modified? new springs? Weights? did you supply them with an advance curve to go by?

I am just curious what they can do. I am thinking about having my SC dist recurved to match the carbs and cams in an upcoming engine project.

The curve was off I couldn't get timing right at idle and at 6000. I supplied them with the specs from the workshop manual and they matched them. He said they would test the curve first then change springs and weights to get the correct curve.

Price was $30 for labor and $5 for parts. I am sure they can help you modify a curve for a specific use like street or track if needed. I would first try to get specs from others who have done some dyno time and played with the curves on a similar set up.

2.7 Euro Carrera curve is very good for carbs. It operates with a 10deg initial.

I will likely follow an early profile on the advance. As Ronin said, the 2.7 is a good one. Its just nice knowing there are shops that can do this for a reasonable price. $500 is not a reasonable price to me.

agreed..
I spent the less than $300 for new 'cause my orig had over 100k mi on it and didn't want to worry about a future rebuild.. so now I have a decent spare if needed. I'm not a good example on what you should do. I also have 2 functional spare alternators and 2 functional spare fuel pumps.
