Painting Targa bar?

I have a brushed stainless targa bar and I think a black one would look better on my silver car. I called around and a used factory black one will run ~$200 + $75 shipping. What options do I have for painting my current bar black. Can you powder coat stainless steel? I am looking for a durable solution.

Thanks,

Jon

Plenty of people just do it themselves, doesn't take long, I don't think it would be a problem if you prepped it correctly. Seems like people use Wurth Satin Black. Mine has the correct look to it even though it was repainted. It's definitely not matte or glossy but more towards matte.

I also have a silver car and it looks great!

Mine was painted the same color as the car. I think it looks cool, and does not break up the look of a "complete" car. I know the stainless look was factory, but to me it looks "dated". Just my thoughts.

Painted Targa Bar

Hey Strup,

Let's see that painted bar. Mine is also painted to match the body and I have not really seen any others. At first, it bothered me a little, but the look is growing on me now

Same thing with me, I can't post any pix, only a link to my car when it was for sale here earlier in the year (May). I have my pix saved to a word file (it's what I had open at the time) and the BBS only accepts other formats......

Here's the link:

Keep it stainless. IMO it looks great on a silver car.

yes stainless looks good with some colors, like silver, black, white, but I did'nt have a choice when I bought mine. i've got red garnett metalic and the whole look looks great. It kind of brings in the "coupe" look to the targa car. Just a thought.
