I am trying to decide wheather or not it is a worth cutting out the entire roof section (with in 1" of the edge") of my 78 sc non sunroof coupe. It is a dedicated track car and I would repace it with carbon fiber. I just want to know how much wt. I will save by doing this. does any one know?

Not much weight there...while I haven't actually weighed one, the two I have in the shop get moved around alot...maybe 50 pounds.....and that includes the a,b, and c pillars as well as the lower edge that butts up to the windshield.

Jerry, is there any way I could talk you into cutting out just the roof section just inside the rain gutters and the front and rear window edges. then get a wt. on it.?(please)

Sure, shoot me a pictureof exactly how you want it cut and send it to me...jstgermaine@stgassociates.com
Then I'll weigh it on the scales my neighboring tenant has.

I think its about 40 lbs. The steel roof section may weigh 50 lbs, but you put back 8-10 lbs of glass. This is also just about the best place to remove the weight from the car, lowers the cg etc.

Ed Bighi did this ..... but I think he went from sunroof to non-sunroof.
