Plug Wires Replaced - Still 'Arcing and Sparking'
 

I just replaced my plug wires with the BERU (from our host) that I believe were the original equipment wires - nevertheless, these new plug wires are of the stainless steel braided variety. All new plug boots, wires, and coil wire were just installed and were properly, meticuiously fitted to my car with the just a tad of dielectric silicone grease. There is still some faint 'arcing and sparking' visible from these wires in the dark. Is the behavior normal?

No it shouldn't be. People have posted slight difficultys in getting the Beru ends on, but the same problem with 2 different parts might indicate some else is at fault, like the spark plugs.
The rationale for this is that the spark doesn't want to jump the electrode gap(the easiest path by grounding through the heads).

The plug should be gapped and the threads should be dry or antiseized with a small amt of Graphite50 only(it conducts and isn't an insulator).
There has been differing views on wether Bosche platinums have any advantages over copper-core. I personnally think they're worse on a street car.

I too recently put in some new wires (not OEM) and noticed some arcing or aura when viewed in the dark.

I ended up just driving them like that and so far I've had no problems. Apparently from reading other postings I guess its pretty common.

Are you having problems or just mentioning that they still arc? My number 4 wire would stop firing after the car was up to temperature, and I suspect another wire was flaky. I went with Clewett Engineering wires to get away from the whole Beru thing. They don't arc at all at night, they were significantly less $$, and the car runs great now.

Try the Magnecor wires, Clewett or the Jacobs electronics wires from our host. My dad's car has the Jacobs and has no problems.
