can this portion of the dash be replaced?
Hi,
Can I just replace this lower left portion of my dash in my '83 sc? I want to get rid of the old alarm key pad and there is nice size hole left behind in the dash and it would be nice to have a replacement if possible. http://www.mohaveaz.com/users/orthop...dash piece.jpg Thanks, flagstaff_911sc |
the trim cover is part # 911 052 041 10 for a 1983 SC but that includes the 3 pieces. The left part only doesn't seem to be available alone any more.

I think Geoge meant to type 911.552.041.10.
(911.552.942.01 if you want the set). SmileWavy |
I pulled my keypad out on my SC and did the following:
Behind the keypad is a round hole, I cut a wood plug to fit the hole using a hole saw. I glued the plug in. The hole is a standard size so the plug fit perfectly. Next I purchased a new trim ring which goes around the ignition switch. The new trim ring is round with no cut-out for the keypad. I than took a scrap of back leather and cut it to fit that section of dash, putting the seam behind the middle of the ignition trim ring. In this area, only a very small section of where the new leather and old leather meet shows. I glued the leather in place. Hope this explanation makes sense. The end result looked great and although not perfect was a very clean solution. |
Thanks for the help guys, I might give a try like N11Porsche suggested, save a little money for other parts needed right now.
I imagine the 3 piece dash set is quite expensive :) Thanks again, flagstaff_911sc |
