Combo 19 mm or 3/4" wrench with flex-socket ...
or, 3/8" drive flex handle -- mini-breaker bar

buy another 19mm socket and cut it off so that it only has a depth equal to the head of the bolt. It will then fit. You can also fit some of the self ratcheting box wrenches in ther. The cut socket works the best for me. It helps to get the slimest head that you can find.

6 point 19mm socket with 3/8 flex head does the job - patience is the key when using a wrench

I used a stubby wrench - try upgrading to 933 calipers with even less room! HAHA I have three rachets and only one worked - it had a narrow head and narrow throat.

Hi Speedy1,
I used a 3/8" drive rachet and the regular 19mm (3/8" drive) socket from my Craftsman tool set I had. This will fit. I took a short length of pipe to make my own breaker bar. If desired the craftsman 3/8" drive mini breaker bar ( I think it is 10") with the same regular 19mm socket has the same depth too. I made some comparative measurements at Sears before I started my brake project a few weeks ago. Good luck! Hope this helps!! Quincy

Fit box end wrench over the bolt head (preferably 6-pt.) and smack the end of the wrench with a deadblow hammer. Same effect as an impact gun. Remember, lefty-loosey (that's CC). Reinstall with anti-seize on the threads.

I was able to use a box end wrench... maybe 1/8th turn at a time. It was slooooooow going. Get one of those beer helmets and suck a few down while you're at it.

Success thanks all for the help actually beer helped being a thinking man I thought simple and got it from the bottom. I guess that is what I get for working on it before beer thirty!! Ha Ha thanks again for all the help!! And it was slow and go they had been removed before and there was anti seize on the threads. The leaking one took 25 mimics the other took 2. Fast easy simple!!

Here's the answer - after sending a lot time being frustrated.
Go to Sears and get a 19mm/17mm OFFSET boxend wrench. It should fit right in there. It may be too long to get it long twists on it. What I did then, was cut the 17mm end off. This enabled me to put the end of another boxend wrench on it when tightening it down. Good luck! Morale: frustration breeds invention. |
