Parking brake repair

Well, I replaced the CV joint and boot this weekend, but that didn't fix the whole problem. Now instead of the rear axle going snap, pop, scraaaaape, it only goes scraaaape.

After jacking up the car and looking around, it looks like one of the springs on the parking brake has broken off and the spring (and possibly the pads) are scraping against the inside of the rotor. I've ordered replacement parts, but wanted to ask a question about taking off the brake caliper.

The 101 projects book mentions that you don't have to disconnect the brake line from the caliper, just remove the clip holding the brake line to the body and hang the caliper up somewhere using a coat hanger. So I was wondering, what do you hang it on? The only thing I can see to hang it on is the fuel line, and I'm not sure I want to do that.

Any suggestions?

Doug

You can always prop it up, instead. Just find something suitable in size and height ... maybe a jackstand or small carboard box?

Shoot, just use some duct tape.
