Provided it is hooked up correctly, would a tach from a 4cyl engine work with a 6cyl engine? Would it read incorrectly, or would it not read at all? Thanks

It will not read correctly. The trigger will count the wrong number of pulses for integration.

But mine is not even twitching... so I guess I will have to assume I have a bad tach or it is hooked up incorrectly. I need to get it recalibrated, but for now I just wanted to hook everything up. Thanks!

Slater,
Do you have the tach trigger lead hooked up to the points, or input terminal 'C' of the CDI unit? Your tach will read 33% higher than a 6-cyl tach at a given engine speed ... if functioning properly! Here is a calibrator circuit that can be built from junk box parts, or less than $20 from Radio Shack ... ![]()

Warren - You are the man! I currently have the trigger wire hooked up to the points. I have not tried hooking it up the "C" on the CDI. I have also not yet tried cleaning all of the terminals on the back of the tach, I will try that next. Thanks for the diagram, saves me from sending it off to have done! Thanks again!
