Expect the trip to last until after lunch. This is a new route so there may be some wrong/missed turns. I will post the final route next week.

Hope some of you can make it.

Jamie

Holy KSJADKLSJ, I wish my car were running. :(

Really miss those Austin roads

jpnovak 10-15-2004 08:34 AM

Come on Priceton, run what'ya brung... Just bring pics of the new turbo setup. :) You can come up the night before and crash at my place if needed.

donk 10-15-2004 01:43 PM

I'm in for sure. I think that's going to be a great route Jamie. Should be a blast. If any more out-of-towners want to come up saturday night, I've got a few places to crash at my place too.

Mark Wilson 10-15-2004 07:41 PM

Jamie,
Wish I was back for this! The duck and I will hit Dallas 28th or 29th so maybe I can come down for the next drive.

From your map, it looks like you guys are going right by Ron Maxwells shop at Canyon Lake. I'm sure he would love for all of you to stop in to say hey. I bet he'd show pictures of the real ST he restored earlier this year. Email me if you want his contact info.

this looks like a fun route. Is this porsche only or can I invite some of my bimmer friends as well?

donk 10-15-2004 08:29 PM

Mark,
One of the guys that will be with us has a car at Ron's shop, so I'm guessing we might drop by there if time permits. I'm sure Jamie would be very interested in anything ST related.

Kerry,
I don't think anyone would object to a few bimmers coming along. So far, non-Porsches that might be in attendance include a Pantera and a Triumph. Like Jamie said above, "run what'ya brung"!

jpnovak 10-16-2004 06:36 AM

Mark, We look forward to having you on the next run. There are talks about a trip to Fredericksburg in Nov. for "Novemberfest". Most of us missed Oktoberfest due to work related travels and other commitments.

Kerry, Bring whoever you want. These events are just fun outings for anyone wanting to BS, enjoy scenery, and DRIVE! As john mentioned there will be lots of non-P-cars in attendence. Are you bringing the new Turbo? I was going to post this with HCRPCA but realized it conflicted with PorscheDillo.

krichard 10-16-2004 06:56 AM

It will have to be the turbo as i sold the carrera last Saturday. I should update my sig... Sounds like a lot of fun. I can't wait to see some longhoods :) I've been wanting one for a while so this may push me over the edge and start a full on hunt for one.

Man, I miss Austin!

Ever driven Lime Creek Road? Anderson Mill/2769 and 620 to Lime Creek and 1431 - best road ever!!!

jpnovak 10-16-2004 09:01 AM

Yes, Lime Creek gets driven almost weekly. In fact, I will be heading up there early tomorrow morning to meet up with SilverC4S and K9Handler, among others.

This is a fabulous route with which I have become quite familiar over the last year or so.

I'm planning to go, but in my TR6, which has a new glassy coat of paint thanks to Ron Maxwell, whose place is in Canyon Lake, just off Potters Creek Road literally minutes from Fischer and practically on this route.

As Mark pointed out, Ron is responsible for all of the restorative body and paint work on Peter Kitchak's 911ST that took firsts at the Rennsport concours and another one since. The car is stunning. Anyway, my Carrera is presently there getting refinished, and when I spoke with Ron today, he said he had seen this thread and is looking forward to having us stop by.

He even offered to have refreshments for us and give a hands-on color sanding tutorial. (No, not on my car)

Here's Jamie's map showing the leg to Ron's place south from Fischer Store:

And he has a restroom too. And another food alternative is Ed's Old Windmill Restaurant on 306 right before we turn back on to 32 and head toward Devil's Backbone. These are great roads!

Crachian, I never made the connection that you were the guy Ron always talks about. Small world! I look forward to getting back to TX and meeting you guys.

RazorRacer 10-17-2004 04:03 PM

I can be there from Houston on Oct. 24th. Does anyone know this guy who has a blue targa SC?

Steeve 10-17-2004 05:19 PM

Man that would be a fun ride... hmmm

jpnovak 10-18-2004 06:59 AM

That's what we need. representatives from Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, and any other sections of central or not-so-central TX.

chuckr 10-18-2004 09:36 AM

The Austin Porsche Club is having a run on Sunday the 24th
It will be about 20 or so Porsches... maybe a Ferrari and maybe
a Ford GT. There is a Concours on Saturday at the Marriott in
Round Rock, Lots of Race cars and Porches of all makes and
models. I have seen as many as 40 Porsches on a run in past
years. This will be a nice event for any Porsche owner or
Porschefile. www.hcrpca.org

jpnovak 10-21-2004 08:11 AM

k9handler 10-21-2004 09:39 AM
