Help me get more rear camber....
It's a ong story, but I need more camber on my right rear to get teh tire inside the lip. (I have just tried a set of 16 x 7 Boxster rims with 225 kuhmos mounted. Fine on the left, but due to old bushings I suspect..(.they will be upgraded over the winter) the entire hub is about a half inch outboard of where the left one sits.
I want to do the NJ, CT & NY fun run Sat, and would love to get these tires to work. But the R rear rubs. I have gotten all the adjustment available out of the camber eccentric, and will try toe next, but I am still 1/2 inch short (and it's prety vertical even at full negative) and i am sure toe won't help enough. So...any tricks that I am missing? Is slotting the plate/arm a possibility? If so, where? (steel banana on my '73) How about adding a thin spacer washer between the plate and the arm at the top lock down bolt...er...OK, thats not the best idea! I must be missing something! Ideas?

HOw much camber are you currently running? I could probably get 5-6 deg. I can not imagine you would need more than that to fit a 16x7. YOu may have to go to a smaller spacer for those Boxster wheels. At least I think it requires a spacer.
Its not uncommon for there to be discrepencies in widths from side to side.

thanks for responding. My right wheel is out from the inner body qbout 5/8~3/4" more than the left rear. Inside clearance on the left is about 1/2~5/8". As I started this project I got out my trusty digital level and found it is FUBAR. Arrgggg... So I can't say for sure the exact number, but it sure isn't 5-6 degrees! I race and adjust camber on my race car every week, so I have an idea what 3 degrees looks like. As it is, I would say I am at 1 degree, if that. I am not running a spacer, although I do have them. The fit seemed better without them. Is the reason they recomend spacers for front offset and steering feel? Or is it purely to fit them under the fenders and q-panels? (I got this set up a few years back, but am just now getting the car goindg again out of storage, and can't remember the drill with the spacers...sorry!)

If you lower the rear you'll get more neg camber, but that's a lot of work...

Hey There Ronin! You doing the fun run tomorrow?
I looked through that thread, but unless I'm missing it, couldn't find the solution there. That cool blue book that was scanned & posted here on aligning 911s was pretty cool too. The car is pretty low, but the issue is q-panel lip rubbing as the suspension compresses. So raising the car is more the solution...but jeeez...hate to do that! I think the issue must be bushing related. But I thought I might find a temporary solution in the camber plan.

Somebody needs to make an offset bolt for the inner bushing. How you get it in there, I don't know.
Slotting the retainer is not a good idea. You would then have to get offset bushings. And your t-bar would be in a bind. No, that has to remain centered, IMO. |

That spring plate looks like it MUST have SOME play or flexing! Speaking of the spring plate, I did just note that the distance between the spring plate and the inner body is greater on the right.....what keeps it pushed "into", or "On to" the t-bar? I bet the answer is "A bushing, and it sounds like yours are shot" Hmmm....

Too bad you missed it. Big turn out. Some nice cars and some REALLY nice cars...mine was in neither category!
Somehow, as happens on these things, the group got split up. Traffic was an issue, but it was cool cahtting with some of the folks. I would like to do it again and if it is that big, maybe maps and pre arranged stops are in order. Weather was perfect. I was able to get about 2 or maybe 3 degrees and the tire fits...barely. Or, put another way, it only rubs on hard left turns or big bumps! I think total bushing and rear suspension rebuilding are in order for the winter. Thanks for the suggestions guys!
