Question 79-73 & 74-77 Rear Quarters Interchangeable?

Hey Guys,

Can anyone confirm that any drivers side rear quarter panel from 70-77 will be the same as on my '72? My "spruce it up a bit" plan has turned into a full blown new metal resto. The car is actually pretty solid but I would rather replace than repair. The bummer is I apparently have to cut off perfectly good rocker panels to repair the rusty bottom of the door hinge post.

I subsequently understand that the later ('74)quarter will fit the earlier ('72) car but there are some minor differences in the bumper to fender interface area. What I want to avoid is any detectable difference from the outside from one side to the other. Will the body seals etc interchange and/or will they look the same from the outside of the car?

BTW can anyone recommend a good how-to book for panel replacement on a 911?

I'm hopeful I can break even on value if I do the work myself (working for the equivalent of 50 cents per hour).

Thanks,

Bill
