You'll have more waiting after you get it. Rainy days, time wasted sleeping, leaving it overnight at the wrench...all these things can drive you nuts when you're away from your baby. Have fun..I'm sure you will. Lots of great roads to drive up there in my former homeland.

Buy Wayne's 101 Projects book, and a Bentley manual, and starting thinking about the inevitable DIY projects you're going to tackle.

Did I miss a thread...how did the PPI turn out? Presumably OK...?

PPI went well. Original brake lines are of course getting old, probalby good idea to replace in next couple of years, CV Boots will need replacement within the next couple of years. A/C needs a recharge but is hopefully otherwise OK. Based on that and the ding on the rear drivers pillar I negotiated the seller down a bit more to a price I am comfortable with. Mechanically real solid with no signs of valve guide wear. G50 updates have been done, new turbo clutch is good. No signs of accident damage, repaints, or rust.

If the PO did not replace the hoses, the reason you need an a/c recharge can be found by searching for "barrier hoses" here on the board. The old style a/c hoses were designed to leak...of course R12 was about $5 in those days. Also, if the a/c hasn't been used in awhile, you may have a leaky compressor seal. Look for a spray of oil and dirt on the inside of the decklid, just above the compressor. If you're not going to replace the hoses, you're probably better off converting to R134. If you're going to stick with R12, for the sake of the environment (not venting VERY pricey R12 into the atmosphere), replace the hoses.

Thanks! I'll look into it. David Loop (of Loop European) did the PPI and noted that he doesn't really "do" A/C, so I am still a bit in the dark there.

There are **LOTS** of threads here on the board about a/c issues. Most center on why Porsche a/c is so bad, and what people (including me) have done to improve it. Do a search for "barrier hose" and you'll come up with dozens of threads (if not more).

Also, there's a Tech Article on rebuilding the compressor if the seals on yours are shot.
