Vent Window - Replacing Top Seal
I've searched and can't find the (I think) recent thread on fixing the Vent Window Cap / Corner Seal at the top of the vent window. (#90 on the parts diagram). The one on my driver side is cracked and too high letting in water.
How does this piece come out? There are 2 hex head bolts/rivets at the top of the vent window. Before I take them out, is that all that is needed to remove the rubber piece to replace it? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1097969468.jpg |

Steve,
I took mine apart 4 years ago. I remember dripping out the rivets and having to re-rivet the piece. It was not that difficult. Jon |
Jon--
The rivets appear to unscrew with an allen wrench. Are there other rivets? Also, is it just those 2 and that corner piece comes out or do I have to take off the door panel and take the entire window apart? What is 'dripping out rivets' - I'm not familiar with the term... thx |
I don't know what I was typing there. I had to drill out the two rivots that hold the piece in. I believe there is a bar with two holes attached to the rubber corner. You will need to take the entire vent window out. I am sorry this seems vague but I did this several years ago. Do you have the new rubber piece?

I haven't yet bought the new rubber piece - wanted to know what a chore this might be before investing $31! for the little bugger

It's pretty simple to replace. Good luck.
